About

Joanne Walker

Dogs have been my passion all my life and I have never wanted to do anything other than spend time working with them. I started my career working in boarding kennels which progressed to having my own grooming parlour.

Subsequently I purchased a large boarding kennel which through hard work grew to be a very successful business.

When not working with other people’s dogs I have shown Terriers, Kerry Blues, Wire Fox Terriers and Irish Terriers all to a very high level enjoying many good wins at championships shows.

The shooting season is an exciting time of the year for me when I take my picking up team of dogs to either large or medium commercial shoots or farmer shoots. Whichever we attend both the dogs and I get a lot of enjoyment from them.

Labradors were the breed of dog I started with, a son of Greenbriar Viper of Drakeshead then later adding a Cocker Spaniel to my team followed by a Springer.

Having now moved to a large eight acre site on the Leicestershire/Nottinghamshire boarder I have set up Heronvalley, a training centre offering a wide range of services to the canine world, which include gundog, companion, residential training.

Behavioural work is an area which I really enjoy and hand striping is something I specialise in.

I am extremely lucky to do what I do. Over the years I have met many people and made many friends who like me have a passion for their animals.
